Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
