'Treat game'

She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated items including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.
